Recurring Holidays

Many public holidays, meetings and conferences recur following a regular pattern. When adding or editing a holiday, by scrolling down the holiday screen, a number of different recurrence patters can be specified.

Daily Recurrence
Therapist

A holiday that recurs daily can be defined as recurring on every weekday (Monday-Friday) or a set number of days apart, for example every 10 days.

Weekly Recurrence
Therapist

A holiday that recurs weekly can be defined as recurring a set number of weeks apart on a particular day (or days) of the week, for example Monday and Wednesday of every second week

Monthly Recurrence
Therapist

A holiday that recurs monthly can be defined as recurring on a particular day of each month, or on a particular day of the month, a fixed number of months apart, for example The 1st day of the month every 3 months. Alternatively a monthly recurrence can be defined as occurring on a particular weekday a fixed number of months apart, for example, the second Sunday of every 3rd month.

Yearly Recurrence
Therapist

A holiday that recurs yearly can be defined as recurring a set number of years apart on a particular day of a specified month, for example Christmas day occurs on 25th December every year. Alternatively the holiday can be defined as occurring on a particular weekday of a specified month.

Recurrence End Date
Therapist

If applicable, an end date can be specified for the recurring appointment. This can either be a fixed date or specified as being after a specified number of repetitions.

Recurring Holidays requiring manual entry

Some recurring public holidays, such as Good Friday do not lend themselves to being defined using this technique. Easter Sunday is defined as being the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Autumn equinox (in the southern hemisphere).

Holidays such as Good Friday are therefore difficult to specify using the recurrence patterns above, and need to be entered each year. It is also common practice in Australia to shift public holidays that occur on a weekend to the nearest Monday or Friday. These type of holiday shifts also need to be entered, or modified each year.
